Dragon, also known as Long (Simplified Chinese: 龙; Traditional Chinese 龍) is an animal that appears in Eastern and Western mythology. In the Buddhist scriptures, the Dragon is one of the eight Heavenly Dragons, both Eastern and Western. But in the West, there are many people who believe that Dragons are merely real dinosaurs, not a fictional mascot. Dragons in Asian countries have many differences with dragons in European and American countries. In some Asian countries, dragons are described as having a snake body, fish scales, lion’s mane, deer horn, without wings but can fly, while dragons in Europe are depicted as a giant lizard, has wings like a bat and can spit fire. Most Asian countries consider dragons to be sacred animals while European countries see dragons as symbols of evil and ferocity. In China and other neighboring countries, the dragon is one of the four mascots that Zhen Shu thiên (Heavenly Ceremony 禮 chép) copy: “Dragon, unicorn, and worship the four gods” (Dragon, unicorn, turtle , phoenix called four spirits). These four mascots are only real turtles. The African dragon is one of the lesser known dragons such as the European dragon or the Eastern dragon. In fact, most of these dragons are not even recognized or thought of as dragons. Most African dragons resemble large serpents or giant snakes, sometimes with only two legs, if any. These snake-like dragons have been seen multiple times across African culture, including folklore, religion, mythology and tribal stories. Tales of these dragons have been found in tribes, cities and towns across Africa including Egypt.
